Sound Exchange Houston
- This record store is rapidly becoming a boutique. Originally, it had a larger selection and a number of rare and obscure metal discs in addition to all of the mainstream underground stuff you'd expect to pick up. Now, prices are higher on used items, standards are lower and the staff seems interested in the lucrative dance vinyl market. Has a metal room with zines, posters, CDs, LPs (vinyl) and flyers; a special effort is made to promote metal with KTRU's radio program and local shows. The problem is that local bands and shows are promoted without any regard for the quality of the bands playing, making this record store only slightly less commercial than Sound Wherehouse or Wal-Mart. You can get a good selection of death metal and black metal here, but it's not what it once was and is not recommended.
