MegaUpload.com Refuses to Change Discriminatory Practices

Diversity Activists Threaten Lawsuit, Boycott, Denial of Service

Austin, TX -- (American Information Defense Society) - Diversity experts in the United States and Africa are encouraging a boycott of leading filehost Megaupload.com for its discriminatory practices against non-American nations. Despite being warned several times, Megaupload.com persists in allocating prime bandwidth to its American customers and discriminating against those of African, Asian and Eurasian extraction.

Race relations expert Mohammed Stevenson, a writer and activist with social change powerhouse CORRUPT.org, says he believes the practice is intentional and not for commercial value. "People outside the USA are as valid as consumers in the United States," he said. "They click on ads and download files just like an American or European." Stevenson noted that while almost two-thirds of Megaupload.com's bandwidth goes to downloads from the United States, far less is allocated to Europe and radically less allowed for Africa and Eurasian countries.

The system that Megaupload.com uses to oppress third world peoples, or "slots," allows it regulate bandwidth by country. Americans get almost unlimited slots, or spaces for download, but Germany gets only 40 and Finland, 3. Even more damning, Central Africa has been allotted one-half slot, based on what Stevenson calls "erroneous" figures suggesting only one in 47,000 Africans has Internet access, despite being a potent market for AIDS drugs and civil rights activism. Diversity activists are calling this behavior racist.

While data suggests racism against minorities in the developed world is well-tracked and waning, few monitor the business practices of American companies in regards to minorities abroad. Megaupload.com represents part of a new trend in this, says Stevenson, where American companies shun those nations whose cultures they find repulsive. "Americans regard Finns, for example, as a savage tribe of drunkards living in the freezing cold, eating raw fish entrails and copulating furiously in saunas to stay warm," he said.

In light of recent charges against Megaupload.com, diversity specialists are recommending that all responsible businesses and individuals boycott the Megaupload.com service. "Until we're all bred into one cultureless grey race with no will to resist our corporate overlords," said Stevenson, "Racism is wrong and remains wrong, even if done from behind the protective facade of a business that makes its living selling pornography ads to Americans downloading pirated software, MP3s and anal rocketry videos."
