Immolation

An originator of the New York style of thunderous death metal, Immolation took a break between their exuberant first album (Dawn of Possession) and their second, which showed the band experimenting not only with technical riffing but also indulging a palette of dissonant harmonies unmatched by any other acts in the scene. Known for their professional instrumentalism and contemplative but rippingly energetic composition, Immolation continue to contribute to a genre which benefits from their provocative example of quality.
