Compiling and editing and refining key materials, Absurd transition their early scattershot approach into a distinctive style, emphasizing hardcore punk dynamics and the trademark metal approach which, like classical music, formalizes a union between existential and external concerns, a "world-spirit" analysis where punk stays either in the political or personal but not both. These songs are like a drunken brawler, bursting into the room with rawness of voice and message, daring anyone to fight but at the same time showing a raw need for what is seen as the truth; even if one finds Absurd's political message repugnant, as most but fewer than when they wrote this EP do, the emotional balance between fervent belief and a childlike expression of unhappiness and a desire to create meaning attract. Compared to earlier recordings, drums solidly maintain tempo and guitars are fretted correctly most of the time, but this music is still primitive in technique even for punk and black metal. It seems to be composed, however, with the voice as a primary instrument, and the soulful but unsteady vocals unite several contrasting phrases into a continuous melodic line supported by crashing punk riffs in which black metal progressions of chord voicings shatter solidity with an emptiness and desire. Although it is clearly not for everyone, there is more to Absurd musically and artistically than one might first suppose, which makes this EP a rewarding listen.
