England's population is growing at the fastest rate since records began, new figures show.

James Clappison MP, the Conservative MP who uncovered the figures, said: "This is bound to have a big impact on the quality of life of people and shows the need for more house-building.

"It is due in no small measure to the immigration policies pursued by the Government since 1997."
